How spending a few hours on the patio can help improve your health

Recent studies show that more and more people spend their free time locked up in their houses, especially children, fact which has come to worry many people. While the Brits have embedded the routine of taking their afternoon tea outside in the garden, at the comfort of nature, American spend much of their time watching TV or playing on the computer. It is widely known that outdoor activity is beneficial for the state of health, not many know that a few minutes spent in the fresh air can totally make the difference. If the person is not very fond of long walks, then he or she can decorate the garden with furniture from PlatinumFurniture and take the indoor activities outside. In what follows, the benefits of outdoor time will be explained.

Fighting depression

How spending a few hours on the patio can help improve your health

Outdoor activity in general has an important impact on the state of mind due to the fact that light has an effect on the general mood. In the outdoors, the person can meditate in silence while at the same time admiring the beauties of nature. The frenzy activity of the birds or bees will help anyone get out of a depressed mood. It has been proven that physical activity also boosts relaxation and generally speaking the person gets to feel good about himself. In addition to this, pets can accompany the owner to the garden and the masters can engage in reading activities. The person can even start holding garden parties or can switch to taking the tea and coffee on the patio. If you have a yard, you should also consider gardening, an activity which is good both for the mind and the body. Gardening is also very easy and you don’t need a lot of resources for it. The simple act of mowing the lawn or weeding around the flowers is a great way of putting your body in motion while allowing your mind to relax and wonder off. If you take a look at some lawn mowers you will see that gardening is not an expensive activity. The basic tool is the lawn mower which is quite affordable and will last many years. Aside from that, you will also need a few cheap hand tools such as a rake, a hand fork or a trowel.

Increase in vitamin D levels

The sunlight that hits the skin accelerates the production of vitamin D, which is known to fight illnesses such as osteoporosis and cancer. Studies have also shown that the majority of people have a vitamin D deficiency that is visible mostly in adults that present strong skin pigmentation. In addition to this, people who use lots of sun cream lotions usually suffer from chronic diseases, not knowing that vitamin D fights infections and stimulates the immune system in order to help fighting bacteria.

Better concentration

The green environment stimulates the level of attention due to the fact that the silence imposed by the specific environment makes more aware of what is going on around you. For instance, children find the perfect occasion to day dream and let their imagination go wild. The reality is that our brains are overstimulated by our daily activities to the point that we lose all sense of concentration and get completely caught up. Going outdoors means taking a break from all that and relieving stress that can cloud up your mind.

In conclusion, it is good to arrange a personal space where you can admire nature and get the most of your outdoor activity. Moreover, time spent outdoors does not mean only exercise; you can relax in the company of a good friend. In addition to this, many studies have revealed that fresh air is an adjuvant in long conditions.
